TargetPrice privacy policy
TargetPrice is a browser extension that tracks product prices and searches for listings on the marketplaces you choose, and alerts you when a price reaches your target.
The short version
- We don’t collect your data. TargetPrice has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no crash reporting and no servers.
- Everything you save stays in your browser: tracked products, Search Watches, price history, alerts and settings.
- The extension talks only to the marketplaces you turn on, to check prices for items you chose.
- No affiliate links. We never change the links you click or the cookies shopping sites set.
- You can export or delete everything at any time.
Information stored on your device
To work, TargetPrice stores the following locally in your browser, using the browser’s extension storage and IndexedDB:
| Data | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Tracked products | Product page address, title, image address, marketplace, your target price and alert choices | To re-check prices and alert you |
| Price history | Date, price, shipping cost, availability | To show history charts and lowest/average prices |
| Search Watches | Your keywords, excluded words, chosen marketplaces, currency, target price, filters | To search for listings on your behalf |
| Matches and alerts | Listings found by your Search Watches, alerts shown to you, read/unread status | To show your alerts feed and avoid duplicate alerts |
| Settings | Enabled marketplaces, check mode and frequency, quiet hours, theme | To remember your preferences |
| Diagnostics log | Recent technical errors (for example “eBay page could not be read”), without page addresses’ query strings or personal data | To help you report problems. It is never sent automatically; you choose whether to copy it into a support request. |
None of this is transmitted to us or to any third party. We have no way to see it.
Network requests the extension makes
TargetPrice connects directly from your browser to:
- Marketplaces you enabled (for example eBay or Mercado Livre), to load the product and search pages needed for your tracked items and Search Watches. These requests go only to marketplaces you turned on in Options, only for items you chose, and on the schedule you set.
- By default, these requests include your existing cookies for that marketplace, the same as when you open its pages yourself. Some marketplaces refuse requests without them, and they can give you region- or member-specific prices. The marketplace can then link these checks to your account there.
- If you turn off “Use my marketplace login session for checks”, requests are sent without your marketplace cookies, so they aren’t linked to your marketplace account. Some marketplaces may then block checks.
- Marketplace image servers, when the extension shows a product image.
Like any website visit, these marketplaces can see your IP address and the request itself. Their handling of that information is governed by their privacy policies, not ours. TargetPrice doesn’t send those marketplaces anything about you beyond what a normal page load includes.
Reading the page you’re viewing
When you use the TargetPrice side panel on a product page of an enabled marketplace, the extension reads the product’s title, price, currency, availability and identifiers from that page so you can track it. It doesn’t read other websites, doesn’t record your browsing history, and doesn’t run on pages of marketplaces you haven’t enabled.
Permissions
| Permission | Use |
|---|---|
| Storage / unlimited storage | Keep your data on your device |
| Alarms | Run the scheduled checks you set up |
| Notifications | Show price alerts |
| Side panel | Show the extension’s interface |
| Offscreen document (Chrome/Edge) | Read the price from pages fetched for your checks |
| Active tab / scripting | Read the product on the page you’re viewing, when you use the side panel |
| Marketplace site access (optional) | Requested separately for each marketplace you enable; you can revoke it at any time in Options or in your browser’s extension settings |
Sharing and sale of data
We do not sell, rent, share or transfer your data, because we don’t receive it. We don’t use it for advertising, and we don’t use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
TargetPrice’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. It also follows the equivalent Microsoft Edge Add-ons and Mozilla Add-on policies.
Affiliate links and cookies
TargetPrice does not use affiliate programs. It never adds, removes or replaces affiliate codes, promo codes or tracking parameters in links, and never changes cookies set by shopping sites. When you open a listing from an alert, TargetPrice opens a clean product address without tracking parameters.
Retention and deletion
- Your data stays on your device until you delete it.
- On the Free plan, price history older than 30 days is automatically removed from your device. Pro plans keep unlimited history.
- Options → Data → Delete all data erases everything immediately.
- Uninstalling the extension removes all of its stored data from your browser.
- Options → Data → Export gives you a copy of your data (JSON; CSV on Pro).
Paid plans
If paid plans are offered, purchases and subscription management will be handled by a third-party payment provider, which processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. To confirm your plan, the extension may need to exchange a license key or account identifier with that provider.
Before any such processing begins, we will update this policy and tell you inside the extension. We will never receive or store your full payment card details.
Children
TargetPrice is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EU). We don’t knowingly handle children’s data. Because the extension collects no personal data, it holds none about children either.
Your rights (GDPR, LGPD, CCPA and similar laws)
Laws such as the EU/UK GDPR, Brazil’s LGPD (Lei nº 13.709/2018) and California’s CCPA/CPRA give you rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, and to opt out of its sale. We don’t collect or hold personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to provide, correct, delete or sell. You can exercise the same controls directly with the extension’s export and delete features.
Security
Your data is protected by your browser’s storage isolation, and only TargetPrice can read its own storage. Content loaded from marketplaces is handled as plain text and never executed. Keep your device and browser up to date, and protect access to your computer, since anyone using your browser profile can open the extension.
Changes to this policy
If we change how TargetPrice handles data, we will update this page and its date, and notify you inside the extension before the change takes effect when the change affects what data is processed or shared. Continued use after that notice means you accept the updated policy. You can always export or delete your data first.
