Pixel Perfect Pro privacy policy
Pixel Perfect Pro is a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox that lays a design image over a web page, so you can check that the layout matches the design.
What Pixel Perfect Pro stores
Everything it stores stays on your device:
- The design images you add, with each one’s settings (position, size, opacity, blend, tag and breakpoint), and the grid and toolbar settings. These are saved per website, in the storage your browser keeps for that website (IndexedDB and local storage), so each site has its own set. As with anything in a website’s storage, that website’s own scripts can read them.
- Your hotkeys, extension settings, theme colors and default overlay settings, in the browser’s extension storage.
- A random ID the extension creates for itself, and a marker in the tab’s session storage. Together they let the overlay reopen after you reload a page. The marker is deleted when you close the tab.
- When you first opened the overlay gallery, to know when to show the rating prompt, and whether you answered it.
What Pixel Perfect Pro sends
Nothing to us. Pixel Perfect Pro has no account, no analytics, no tracking and no ads. Your designs and the pages you check are never uploaded.
The extension makes one kind of network request on its own: when you add a design by URL, it downloads the image from the address you enter. It tries from the page first, and if the image’s website doesn’t allow that, it downloads it from the extension’s background instead.
Links
The extension links to a few pages. They open only when you click them:
- “What’s new” and “Contact Us” open
pixperfectpro.com, the extension’s website. - “Buy me a coffee” opens the developer’s page on
buymeacoffee.com. - A week after you first open it, the overlay gallery asks you to rate the extension. Four or five stars opens its store review page, and one to three stars opens a feedback form on Google Forms. You can close the prompt without rating.
When you remove the extension, your browser opens a short feedback form on Google Forms. Filling it in is optional.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Access to all websites | Show the overlay on the page, or in a frame on it, when you open it there; reopen it after a reload in tabs where it was open; and download a design you add by URL |
| Access to local files | Use the overlay on HTML files opened from your computer. Chrome only, after you turn on “Allow access to file URLs” in the extension’s details. Firefox doesn’t allow this, so use a local server there. |
scripting | Load the overlay into the page or frame you choose, and check after a reload whether it was open |
storage | Save your hotkeys, settings and theme in your browser |
clipboardRead (optional, Firefox only) | Paste a design image from the clipboard. It’s off until you turn it on in the add-on’s Permissions tab in Firefox. |
You can limit the extension’s site access in your browser’s extension settings. The popup then shows a button to grant access to all websites again.
Clipboard
Pixel Perfect Pro reads your clipboard only when you click “Paste from clipboard”, and it uses only images from it. In Chrome, the browser may ask you to allow clipboard access first.
Deleting your data
Delete a design with its delete button in the overlay gallery. Because designs are kept in each website’s storage, clearing a site’s data in your browser also deletes the designs saved for it. Removing the extension deletes its hotkeys, settings and theme, but not the designs saved in websites’ storage: delete those in the gallery first, or clear those sites’ data.
