Pinlet privacy policy
Pinlet is a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox for pinning notes on webpages.
What Pinlet stores
The notes you write, their status, where each one sits on the page (including a short snippet of the text it’s attached to, used to find the spot again), and the title and address of each page you add notes to. Pinlet also remembers the pages where you chose to hide notes. All of this is kept in your browser’s extension storage on your device.
What Pinlet sends
Nothing. Pinlet has no account, no analytics and no tracking, and the extension makes no network requests. We never receive your notes or your browsing activity.
Share links
When you click “Copy share link”, Pinlet puts the notes from that page, with the page’s title and address, into a link to max7up.com/pinlet/share. Anyone you give the link to can read those notes.
- The notes go after the
#in the link. Browsers don’t send that part of a link to any server, so max7up.com never receives them. The share page reads them in the visitor’s browser. - max7up.com sees a request for the share page, the same as any visit to a website, with the details every browser sends, such as the IP address. The share page has no analytics and loads nothing from other websites.
- If the visitor has Pinlet, the extension lets the share page know, with a message that stays inside the browser, and the page opens the noted website with the notes on it. Without Pinlet, the share page lists the notes and links to the browser’s extension store.
